Green Transportation To Make The Planet Healthier

The state of the planet is a topic found almost everywhere.
We see it on commercials ranging from green energy to Coco-cola.
It is discussed in political debates, in our news, on our television, and maybe even at your kitchen table.
Almost everybody has an opinion about it.
But regardless of what your beliefs are about the health of our planet, we can all probably agree that it is important to take care of the earth.
Here are some practical things that you can do to positively affect the health of the planet and possibly improve your health as well.
When you are planning your transportation, plan with the health of the planet in mind.
While it is not realistic to expect all Americans to abandon our cars and walk everywhere, it is realistic to lessen the harmful impact of our transportation needs.
The first practical way you can cut down your negative impact on the planet is to find rides.
If you can set up a carpooling system with a co-worker, you can cut down on how often you’re on the road burning fuel, which will be friendlier to both the environment and your wallet!
Another way you can lessen the amount of time spent behind the wheel is to ride your bicycle.
If you find yourself frequently driving places that are less than five miles away, consider riding your bike, as this cuts down on the harmful emissions from your car and is healthier for you.
If you buy a basket for your bike, you can use your bike to run errands close to your home.
Riding your bike is also kinder to your wallet, as it will help you decrease the amount of gas you buy and will also help you not buy things you don’t need.
Lastly, look into public transportation.
Most cities have some system of public transportation, whether bus or train.
More cities across America are adding public transportation options; for instance, Dallas recently created The Dart to help ease the commuter traffic.
Research your city’s public transportation and see if you can catch a ride to work or to the grocery store.
There is really no way to definitively determine what shape the planet is in, or what it will look like in 50 or 100 years, but it is a whole lot better to take initiative too early than too late.
Carpooling, riding your bike, or taking public transportation will not solve all of the world’s problems, but it is important of us to do our small parts in order to make a big difference.
